Born in Tenali, Andhra Pradesh, Vijayavalli hails from a traditional Harikatha Bhagavatar family. Her father and Guru Brahmasri Yeleswarapu Subrahmanya Sastry garu was a multitalented and versatile artist, adept in Harikatha, Theatre, Literature, and Classical music.
Having trained in Harikatha and Classical Music at a very early age from her father, Vijayavalli was a child prodigy. She rendered her first Harikatha when she was 5, at an event organised by All India Radio. Thereon, she rendered Harikatha at many prestigious sabhas, events, and occasions, including TANA Silver Jubilee Celebrations in San Jose and Los Angeles, USA.
Fascinated by the grace and expressions of Kuchipudi dance, Vijayavalli pursued the divine art and imbibed the tradition and pure form of classical dance. She is a Gold Medalist in B.A. Kuchipudi Dance and then completed her M.A. as well from Potti Sree Ramulu Telugu University, Hyderabad. She also holds a PG Diploma in folk arts and a Certificate in Higher Grade Teachers' Training.
Inspired by the style and grace of the Legend Sri Vempati Chinna Satyam garu, she explored the finer nuances and intricacies of Kuchipudi and various other dance forms.
